not that we cant be mediocrities, but I'm probably much more likely to pay attention to music and art by transsexuals and various of queers , the mentally ill, the dispossessed and marginalized
maybe I've just been lucky to consistently find gold
maybe some combination of factors means I'm more likely to get something Real and of substance than someone whos had a comparatively comfortable life
its easy to fall into the idea that suffering makes art, i know thats superficial, i mean that i generallycannot relate to the uplifting, loving, optimistic and simplistic threads of mainstream art
or the comfortable apocalypse stories which are popular too
