So in defiance of all logic I decided to take the swordtember sketch a day prompt, and use it to inspire God help me one Extracosmic Witchkind Legion character per day. Also the weapons aren't gonna be swords they're gonna be weird strife specibi.

Like this one, for the prompt "shadow". Their specibus is shadow puppets which is pretty hard to get working I have to imagine! Bard of light seemed like the maybe too on the nose obvious choice for classpect

the second character I completed was a pretty weird concept. they're a kobold that got some sort of demonic resurrection spell cast on them, and decided to use it to achieve their ultimate dream: becoming a REALLY good cook. using uh, their own regenerating body parts for the meat dishes.

her design is based on geckos which seemed fitting for a kobold that can grow back her own tail and in fact everything else for that matter. gave her devil horns though.

this was the first of the big OC Explosion to actually have a relatively completed design... she's a transgender jackalope with an arm possessed by a bunch of carnivore demons. I wanted her arm to look like actual medieval demon depictions, which tend to be a whole lot of body parts usually featuring a lot of mouths all sorta crammed onto one another. I like her conceptually but never quite got a character read beyond "stoic"... I should work on that...

Neeve's the only one of these freaks I've managed to paint so far. I'm really proud of how she turned out. this is based off some dumb mannequin wearing this exact outfit that Juniper found. she was like, mutuals paint your ocs like this. and I was like. yeah alright.

I think the painting did a decent job of capturing her uncannyness. she's modeled after a gharial but her front fangs are actually meant to look like gnarled hands closing together... she bathes in mtn dew. awful.

ok here we go, now we're into the big like, explosion of OC designs that started over the course of this last year

this is a little out of order but she's one of my favorites so I'm starting with the worst girl: NEEVE

she's based on a gharial but I maintain her species is "abomination." do not try to remove the hood. I played around with her head quite a bit before I was satisfied with it. she's a gamer and she's awful and I love her.

I should draw my friends 'sonas more, it's fun. I never finished this cause I couldn't quite find a pose I was satisfied with... I also struggle a little with avian anthro anatomy u_u I think the head turned out ok though

a while back Juniper posted a thing about like... I think it was like demons that were the combination of multiple Deadly Sins?

and this was my idea for like, Pride/Lust maybe? I don't really remember the lore but I think the design is pretty fun!

And then there's this rendering of where Rose or Terrorose was gonna end up, at least at one point.

daemons were a lot weirder and I kept pushing them into kind of uncanny territory but I like them a lot too

Nell said it was ok for me to post this cause they don't have current plans to finish IBA, but maybe ents and daemons can find their way into something else in the future. I still have all the sprite sheets after all...

I actually did a bunch of development on sprites for these species. Ents went through a few iterations as I tried to balance the puppet/ball jointed doll/stop motion model vibe with like, the desire to not make them look super unsettling haha. I think they came together in a pretty charming way in the end?

the ents were bonded to a companion species, daemons, who had an ultra flexible genetic structure and could gestate the young of alien species. the two species were on a gigantic worldship together and needed each other to propagate.

Nell described them as horny squirrels so that's what I went with. I was pretty involved in their visual development--here's a few portraits of them. you can see their features are pretty varied

in the middle of the homestuck renaissance @nellcromancer started an epic multi-strand fic project called the Ink Black Appendices, which was sorta "what if Egbert got to transition" and "what if Rose got to eat a few universes and murder God"

one of the most exciting parts of the project was the introduction of a few new fan species. Ents were a plant based species that had sort of a marionette vibe to them. this sketch iirc was based on a @goomy design

this troll came after the others, after things had really started to come unhinged. early 2020 was a deranged time. anyway she's based on the incredibly crude reading of "Page" as a class that "gets served its aspect" i.e. eats its aspect (it's a pussy eating joke)

also, I just really liked the idea of an anglerfish themed troll though in retrospect I wish I made her mouth more unsettlingly huge and sharp ehehe

his mask is sort of touching on Slipknot, Mushroomhead, and Mudvayne lol. I also decided I didn't care if fan classpects were cringe so I think iirc my plan for him was Nurse of Blood.

the friendsim trolls were like, fine, but I felt a little frustrated by how constrained they were by thematic lore homestuck bullshit, so every troll felt like some component aspect of the true twelve. I get it, and it was interesting, but I was like...

what if you had a glam rock oliveblood that had a "nine lives" theme and could channel the personas of her ancestors in performance? like how weird can we really get with this shit?

the ironic thing is that most of these were done before the New York show which like, you may have heard, was a bit of a clusterfuck. like I mean, RIGHT before, like drawn in the cabin in the woods that I got snowed into lol before getting marooned in a hotel in Secaucus

it's probably fitting that the first one I drew there had an Angel of History theme...

also that first guy has a Hand of Glory power that's unfortunately really inconvenient since that's like, a real eye on his hand
