i have a setting ive been working on a while that was supposed to be for a game of Kult i was gonna dm but i think ill just take what i made and work with it on other creative projects because i really do adore every bit of it
anyways, the actual premise is that each planet is the slumbering body of an Archon, and the sun is a demiurge whose fading light is starving the fundamental separation between the illusion of material reality and the divine ephemera neatly layered above. untethered angels whispering divine truths, archons waking back up, humans getting lost on the way to work and winding up in the infinite ruins of the city of god. etc
the protagonists of whatever this will end up being are part of the Void Corps, a hastily formed interplanetary organization established between the outer planets, several of which are part of a lower phase socialist federation, and the roman empire analogue, who had just been to war with the former, tasked with scrambling to deal with the aftermath of the death of god
@abraxas this rules
the idea is that it's a world confined to a "2D" solar system, with a dying sun suspended above the planets, the cracked husk of the earth at the center, and no rotation. the planets are occupied by different factions roughly corresponding to the state of the Mediterranean in 200AD. i never sorted out exactly which planet goes to who, but Mars and all the inner planets are occupied by a roman empire analogue.
