Fascism relies on a conception of the worker & of class that hollows out materiality & material struggle and fills it with mysticism. A framework of society welded together with profoundly paramaterial abstractions: the nation, the volk, the race; each attached and articulated through fundamentally esoteric rhetoric.
@abraxas weirdly, I've actually seen it play out. You ever read Michael Mann's "Fascists"? I read it at uni, and then watched the 2010s prove almost every conclusion it came to about fascism wrong.
Liberal diagnoses of the roots of fascism inevitably collapse in on themselves and ring hollow because their own system relies just as much on a finely woven web of immateriality. Belief in the inexorable forward momentum of capital and its potential for moral healing
