imo a critical failing of the milieu of breadtube video essay media analysts is the treatment of "anti-captialism" as a /moral/ quality to be discovered in the textual margins of this or that film or show. A hidden factor that retroactively redeems or elevates what stands as an otherwise conventional product of the culture industry.
And I get the drive behind it, as much as I suspect a great deal of these essays have more to do with exploiting trends than anything else. But I feel like the desire to find the secret twisted epic anti capitalist anti fascist nature of, i dont fucking know, cars 2, a disney-pixar product for example, reveals a perspective on the production of media fundamentally decoupled from anything resembling a marxist or really even generally leftist lens
