call me a luddite but i don't think the future of blogging/journalism is "every individual writer has their own personal paywall." if we're talking about the diffuse & ever-decreasing pool of expendable income most people have for subscriptions as an existential problem for independent journalism, i really don't see how the post-substack approach is making things better. basically guarantees that paying your bills is subject to a popularity contest. how is a new writer supposed to break in now??
