that and the difficulty is fine tuned to make it EXTREMELY satisfying whenever you progress further, and really puts you into zagreus' shoes vis a vis the seemingly impossible task of escaping from hell (and his shitty dad) that he's trying to accomplish

i honestly could go on an entire fucking tirade of how masterfully hades manages to balance the dungeon-crawling and fighting with the plot and relationship progression between characters, and how the fact that you Die A Lot is baked into the story and makes for an extremely satisfying slow-drip of information that results in.....honestly some of the most organic developing relationships i've ever seen in a game that tries to do that kinda thing???

also i absolutely ADORE orpheus' design like god damn i dont know what specific kind of gender is going on here but there is a LOT of it. ancient greek lyre-based glam rock

really cannot explain the emotions i felt hearing eurydice and orpheus finally sing together after having listened to their individual solos for most of the game. narratively cathartic harmonizing makes me lose control

have to say. hades might have made it to my list of "favorite games ever"
