Unless the queer rep is coming from something independent, executive meddling should always be considered and roped into the discussion of representation in media and how it could be better, less limited. OKAY BUT FOR REAL, how are we going to progress with better, more open queer rep if we don't discuss how in corporations, queer existence is, at best, seen as a way to capitalize off of queer people but not actually telling stories of our experiences, or at worst, seen as a danger to profit and success and therefore isn't done at all. It's a whole question of "which is better, bad visibility (which then asks what defines it AS bad), or no visibility at all"
Also as if cartoons aren't the one of the most affected mediums by executive meddling because queerness is considered "too adult/mature" for kids, bruh
