"why the fuck isn't this dialogue event triggering" try adding it to the dialogue event listener group jackass
ohohohoho wait i've stumbled onto an idea. i have no idea if i can pull this off but god damn if i'm not gonna try

which is why i'm tempted to actually try writing some fanfic. i wanna take a crack at taking the undercooked characters of the Chibnall era and seeing what they'd be like with some more substance, y'know?
just, uh, still pretty unsure about my actual skill as a writer lmao

i absolutely think the Master's arc is still salvageable, if you just have them sit down with the Doctor and TALK. it drives me mad that Thirteen and Dhawan's Master never once acknowledged the MASSIVE developments they'd made in Series 10! they just pretend it never happened! so much for Yes And-ing the previous showrunner's decisions!!!

at this point, what i want more than anything is for Doctor Who to prove it can make bold character decisions and Actually Follow Through With Them, rather than handwaving away all the actually interesting parts so we can get back to Fun Space Adventures without a care in the world. the 60th specials hit the nail on the head there, and i REALLY hope RTD doubles down on it in Season 2

and that's the problem with Chibnall's era in a nutshell, right - it wants to be this revolutionary new take on the show that throws out the old, but it's terrified of actually taking the status quo of Doctor Who into uncharted waters, preferring to re-destroy Gallifrey, detransition the Master, and flat-out refusing to examine how being the first female Doctor affects Thirteen on a character level. AAAAAAAAA!!!!

i've really grown to despise the sitcom-esque approach to the Master's character, where every new incarnation has to be a complete regression to the status quo of "comically evil Crazy Guy" because god forbid one of the most complex and important in the whole series shows any long-term character development
