my family is cuban and ones that lived in cuba apparently had very bad experiences there. they had very little food and poor healthcare. this was decades ago though, it could be different now. im not saying that their state of poverty was the result of communism, because i know its not, but i just want to know why my family's experiences there were so negative. is cuba just poor in general? is the government corrupt? whats up with it?
what makes a country communist? is it the nationalization of every business? i want to be able to explain to people, in simple terms, what communism is and why it's better than capitalism.
i also want to better understand global politics so i can also explain the situations pertaining to other countries that are considered communist.
