so did homestuck^2 actually cause people to abandon or stop caring as much about various fan-made epilogues and continuations thereof, in the presence of a single official continuation? or is this just a hypothetical scenario I made up and got pointlessly mad about

@jordyn they saw “An official continuation of Homestuck.” and focused on the “official”, completely ignoring the “An”
if it had been meant to be definitive, surely it would’ve said “The”

@jordyn I've always had the impression that it was something people who hated hs^2 in the cruel way claimed was happening and convinced people of but it wasn't actually happening, but I have no actual information to back this up

@jordyn I *think* it’s more that most people saw that Homestuck² existed, but never read any of the reasoning or anything behind it, and were like “well this is the only thing that can happen now”
that or they just never came back after the epilogues except to non-constructively say “this is shit” but yet they couldn’t just let Homestuck go and move on with their lives like you’re supposed to do with media (and like how Hussie said the Epilogues were designed to do)
