any automatic payments people had set up Beforehand won’t restart, either, cause the Department of Education specifically cancelled all autopayments, even those created During
which to me seems like a trap for millions of people to default on their loans to the government but
after nearly two years of 0% interest on all federal student loans because of the pandemic pause, interest rates will be going back up, too
and the thing is (at least with my loan servicer), the interest rate wasn’t listed as “usually 4.49% (or whatever) but because of the pandemic pause it’s 0%”
it just said “0%”, which seems misleading as hell, especially cause I made a few payments During and couldn’t even be sure I was paying off the highest-interest loans!
remember when Biden ran on wiping out $50,000 of student loan debt by executive order, then pivoted to “well *maybe* I can do $10,000” after he won, and now isn’t even going to do THAT
