(i don't usually respond to critics this directly but when they act like i personally broke into their house to inflict my extensively content-warning'd homestuck fanfic on them i kinda can't help myself)

it's when they start talking about harm and how "disturbing" it is that i get rankled. like the reader bears no responsibility for the act of continuing to click "next chapter" through countless content warnings, like it's my job as writer to protect their mental health. bitch i've got mental health too, get a fucking hobby

sharing this last comment from them because just. wow this is kind of depressing. i went to college for media studies, i've actively been a critic for over 15 years at this point. i just want to reach through the screen and be like... my sister in christ, there is a huge difference between learning from a thing you don't like and enthusiastically inflicting a thing you really hate upon yourself. as a lover of trash and learner from other's mistakes, oh god, this is SUCH an unhealthy way to read
