“Some fights you win, and other fights, you just fight, because surrender isn't an option. Everybody knows, right? If everybody knows, then everybody might just decide to do something about it.”
maybe i'm nothing but a grump but this just feels like another entry in the Fucked Up Practical Gore Arms Race that defined the evil dead remake and basically every single post-2010s horror movie with an inferiority complex about the pg-13-ification of the genre. i dunno man i'm just not convinced. this doesn't look new at all and i'm BEGGING modern cinematographers to please ask anyone in grip/electric to put even a single fucking light on set
because the thing is that if it's really such a great movie (maybe it is idk the trailer sucks) then it will have precisely one effect: there will be more evil dead movies, and more movies trying to be like evil dead
i don’t think it’s “going too far” to say that nazis should not have any political input whatsoever! if you apply that logic to the modern day then you come to the inevitable conclusion that any revolutionary government in the us, for example, would have to disenfranchise vast swathes of the population in order to maintain political power, and that wouldn’t be a bad thing
but then again i'm a communist film student who wants everyone on wall street strung up dead in public so i guess i might have some bias
i'd be more compelled by the "economics is really complicated" line if all the titans of industry and venture capital weren't secreted out of a waste bin in nevada with all the intelligence of a video game npc from 1996
"Look, if you think the fact that my Internet of Shit door-lock failed because the company that designed it made no plan to let me into my house if they went out of business would make me sympathetic to that company, you are out of your fucking mind. If that happened to me, it would make me want to tear the lock out of my door, hunt down the CEO of the company that made it, set the lock on fire, and throw it through their front window."
