in freshmen high school civics (2002ish) we went around to say our favorite movies. I said Mulholland drive and the teacher rolled her eyes and said of course, which was in regard to the fact that I was a boy at the time and she thought it was because of the lesbians, not in regard to my burgeoning love for fucked up confusing metanarratives. this creates an obvious *personal* throughline for me.
