apparently hermitcraft successfully lobbied microsoft to let them put their world download on the official minecraft marketplace unedited, which meant loosening policy game-wide on maps with religious depictions [doc's perimeter with the goat goddess murals] and shirtless dudes [scar]. lmao awesome. they said "give the people scitties or we walk"
genuinely surprised to hear that the existing policy was SO conservative (the goat goddess mural doesn't depict anything real whatsoever, it's made up lore for a minecraft build) but not surprised that they were able to successfully leverage their clout in this way. theyre good folks tbh
additionally, those murals were designed by fans. doc's hugely into collaboration and makes absolutely every effort to make this as fair a relationship as it can be-- always asking first, dedicating several minutes every episode to crediting the fanartists he features and plugging whatever links that they want him to plug. so this was another one of the reasons that the hermits threatened to walk if the map costed $$-- profiting in that way was never part of the agreements made with their fans
