so far the best solution ive got is just to trim the fat on the intro, which is a good idea regardless, but it doesn't solve the underlying RPG Takes Forever To Get Going disease
had my qpp playtest the tutorial battle of CHORDIOID today and they loved it so much they suggested having it as the cold open

we went on for like four hours and still have to finish the big battle next week. i convinced a prison guard to jump off a ledge by being disguised as another guard, yelling "I'M KILLING MYSELF" and jumping first. i rolled a nat 1 on Fire Bolt and accidentally set our escape route on fire. i love this game
