Everyone loves talking about how Starfield is a disaster nowadays but I'll be real it was already obvious within an hour of starting Fallout 4 that they had completely lost the plot on what a role playing game even is

bethesda figured, power armor is cool, right? let's give players power armor at the start of the game. miniguns are cool, right? give the player a minigun at the start of the game. and what's a cool thing to kill with a minigun? that's right, a deathclaw, those are cool. it's cool if a player kills one of those real early, that should hook them

why are those things cool? well in fallout 3, new vegas, killing a deathclaw, getting power armor, those are ACCOMPLISHMENTS and not FLASHY STORY FILLER

like, it becomes meaningless. in fallout new vegas deathclaws are a really cleverly employed creature that serves as a soft wall for progression that cannot be defeated at all for a LONG time, unless you are very clever and experienced. in fallout 4 they are just a guy you kill to feel cool and powerful and get a hands free orgasm 1 hour in. yeah no shit of course the game didn't hook me, i immediately realized after this that it wants to be disney world & not a story a player can be a part of!

@foxoplasmosis It's pretty funny how as a consequence the minigun in fallout 4 is actually pretty weak in terms of DPS
