@pineappleface it’s insane!!! i truly do not understand!!!! and other than that ONE day last year they haven’t had a shop with homestuck merch open!!!! why!! i’m just like. dumbstruck with how i feel about this

@ghostrally So I have a theory here. I suspect that Homestuck became far less profitable of a media IP after the post-canon started coming out.

Like don't get me wrong I LOVE the epilogues and what of HS2 that we got to see... but because of how they ended up dividing and shrinking the fandom, they made Homestuck as a whole way less merchandisable.

So Viz probably views Homestuck as a failed investment by now

Hussie sold the distribution rights for who knows how much, retaining creative control over sequels, then turned around and immediately dumpstered the financial value of those distribution rights with high-concept sequel material that doesn't commercialize well but we fucking love to see.

@pineappleface i don’t know though!! because they weren’t doing anything with us proper before hs^2 either. and pesterquest was pretty successful!! idk, it just feels a lot more than a lack of trying rather than a lack of interest

@ghostrally I was thinking more of how people got turned off of Homestuck after the epilogues came out. Viz probably decided the size of the remaining fanbase wasn't worth their time

So, yeah. Mostly a lack of effort on their part
