Nothing more priceless than their reactions the moment Eugene Robinson's vocals kick in.
his dialogue at the start is p muffled/muttered but he basically says that when he was 14 his stepfather had him flyering for the Peace and Freedom party and he was a member of their CA state central committee.

Wait what the fuck am I talking about, this comes before The Sunset Tree, it's the *third*-last album before Jon Wurster comes aboard
The drummer on this album (a guy called Christopher McGuire apparently) is incredible on Cotton, it's a much more loose and expressive performance than I remembered.
Anyway there are people who don't like All Up The Seething Coast and I can't imagine a more dogshit Mountain Goats take https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHLK5TaxxKM
Wait I didn't say Mountain Goats anywhere in this thread. This is about the Mountain Goats.
Full Force Galesburg and The Coroner's Gambit are probably my favourite of their albums overall at this point tbh
I find it hard to say with certainty that it's my favourite post-boombox era of their albums as I did before but it's really great stuff.
It having been a while since I last listened to We Shall All Be Healed I'd forgotten that from a production standpoint I really like it; from the bottle smash and sampled arguing in Slow West Vultures to the piano and keys sprinkled throughout and the fairly solid percussion elements (this is the second-last album before Jon Wurster comes on board).
It has one of the simpler bass parts on Catch For Us The Foxes but man if I ain't been thinking about it all day
