while convenient i do think there's something to be said about the contribution of this sort of all-in-one connector design to the black-boxification of consumer electronics. i do not think this is inherently a bad thing, but i do find joy in using an analog stereo receiver where i actually have to know like- okay this provides power this is a phono line this is line level audio this is amplified speaker level audio, it makes me feel more connected to the machines in my home if that makes sense
