I wonder if I could do this with device input in a game engine somehow.
First I need to learn Godot or something but still.
I have a deep - even spiritual - need to hold multiple mice doing different things that don't conflict with each other on a computer.
I need Wii style multi cursor browsing. I need double mouse gaming where instead of keyboard there is 2 mice.
This would make me better.
I would go back in time to invent the commercial desktop environment for this maybe.
the aggravating thing about firefox isn't it being less successful or less financially viable or less technically advanced compared to its competitors or whatever. its the weird, unforced errors. inexplicable, unless google handed a couple of firefox devs a bitcoin or two and a copy of the CIA's Simple Sabotage Field Manual (1944)
But also! Things like location history do not in any way require a large corporate cloud - or literally any computer besides your own for that matter - to work! Not inherently, anyway. Google's implementation does so as an excuse to collect and monetize more data but something as simple as location history would maintain all of its functionality if it was limited to one or a few personal devices.
That's the case for a lot of services in general but they're the easiest to use
surveillance nightmare world
As much as I care about privacy as a right and hate the awful mix of corporate and government surveillance we're all subjected to for the purpose of giving the powerful even more power, and advocate for creating whatever dark pockets of secrecy any of us can to preserve our individual and collective autonomy:
I'm also the type of person who's regularly genuinely helped by things like Google Location History telling me the last time I visited somewhere.
