@SophiaSurname my tuesdays are open if you ever get together enough freaks to play 2e, i love that shit
@SophiaSurname IT'S LITERALLY WHAT I GREW UP ON, AND YES
@ArtemisRubey this is BUCKWILD information and I respect you for it
@ArtemisRubey Have I shown you my 2e books, i still pull out the monster manual to look at cool rakhasas and shit sometimes
@SophiaSurname YES PLEASE. from, like, ages 8-13 i played various iterations of 2e with my stepdad gming. very fond memories of using lego minifigs for our miniatures.
@SophiaSurname also recalling that the first two characters i made myself after my stock fighter pregen were a twink broody half-elf and a haughty girl elf wizard and i played them both at the same time because we had very few players. i feel like this may have been foreshadowing of my life in retrospect,
@ArtemisRubey hm yes there may be a throughline here
also that's really cool
@ArtemisRubey i didn't really have anyone to play with so I just had a handful of the books and read them longingly. My brain still often sorts information into the exact tables from the phb and dmg
@SophiaSurname we straight up played a slightly homebrewed version of keep on the borderlands and it RULED
honestly my ex-stepdad wasn't a great parent but he was a very cool person lmao, i even played tuba on stage with his band during a few concerts
@ArtemisRubey I had the most insane idea about this
@ArtemisRubey What if you, me, and @Paradox, just the 3 of us, played 2e, and we rotated GMs? We could play straight from modules to vastly reduce overhead. We could each have 2 characters (or 1 character and a retainer with class levels) so that we had a full parties. The GM's PCs could participate in some limited capacity to get either full or partial rewards, or they could just sit out and we handle it some other way. We'd rotate GMs per module.
@ArtemisRubey @Paradox I have a bunch of AD&D modules, mostly 1st edition, that I have not actually read, so we have like, a lot of material to work with, and i think converting from 1e to 2e isn't all that hard because i saw 2e was meant to be backwards compatible? and I remember the ones I did read didn't seem to require much conversion, and i think THAC0 was an informal rule that you can just kind of derive for the 1e stuff?
@ArtemisRubey @Paradox i feel insane about this right now
@ArtemisRubey oh my god are you a THAC0 liker
