https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VBqqUOZITGo This track was my all time most listened to song last year & it kicks the shit out of anything on этажи
it’s whack that этажи is by far the more popular molchat doma album than с крыш наших домов like I do like it but it’s so much lighter & New Wavier & synthpop..ier... Which is probably why it’s popular along w/ one of the tracks becoming a tik tok meme but I’m too much of a post punk goth bitch to prefer that
did you catch THIS epic moment? is this GIFable? is this soyass dialogue passingly woke enough that late millenials who live to visit Disney World will post it a dozen times over. is this game kooky enough 13 year olds with "scenecore" in their bios will cap it and caption: "SDGJKHG THISIS SO CURSED"
my cringe german catholic ancestors moved from the Austrian alps so they could move to OHIO and become protestants. truly miserable
kate's talked to me before abt recording some kind of "debate' or discussion on the utility & quality of "feminism" wrt my disdain for anything short of materialist feminism/ feminism w/ a cultural analysis FIRMLY rooted in an understanding of the (gendered) division of labor & i still think that would be fun
anyways if you cant tell im getting drunk and scrolling through /lit/ recommendation charts
depending on the day i would agree that Cormac McCarthy is an absolutely fantastic writer, but every time i return to a book I feel like, if i didnt absolutely despise vulgar feminist borderline radfem cultural critique, i would be one of those twitter lit bitches who make their entire personality about how much they hate the way he describes living creatures, especially men, especially women
I’m thinking that “Hitler Studies” is a kind of purposefully overwhelmingly exaggerated stand in for the gaudy academic treatment of historical moments of tragedy as personal career opportunities & fields to obsess and study & fuss over. I’ve had professors who were experts on the Iraq War. Professors founding their careers on the study of the colonial genocide of The Congo. All the same.
I’m a marxist for a reason. I think communism will win, beyond any shadow of a doubt. But we do dwell on the words of failed men. Men whose legacies have been trampled and butchered. Men who built nations that have been trampled and butchered and hollowed out from without. And as someone born past 1991, from the very start what I’ve understood the communist project to be is “yeah that thing that failed that everyone hates.” And I REALLY think disco elysium nails that
There’s a lot I could & will say abt communism in Disco Elysium but for now all I’ll say is the first thing that profoundly specifically stood out as a marker of “yes we know what we’re talking about here” is when they describe it as an ideology of total failure. Every marxist line is an inflated half truth of a bluff meant to reassure the speaker. The “communism” of most games a hollow Soviet pastiche w a bad accent but DE & understands twenty first century communism for what it is, I think.
Adoring White Noise tho I’m gonna try to finish it this weekend it’s really quite excellent
I’ve been getting myself to read Pynchon for so long that I’ve trained myself to associate “acclaimed interesting books I want to read” with “overwhelmingly dense prose over 800 pages that’ll take me 3-6 months to wade through” and I guess that’s good because reading Blood Meridian a few months ago & White Noise now is so much easier. Literary equivalent to taking training weights off.
The fact that it has 1: embedded references to the commune of Paris and 2: a metaphysical semi mystical element is a one two punch testament to how much this game is bait for me. Not even to mention that I’m obsessed with reactivity in crpgs
