i’m still in bed with my migraine from yesterday. i’m doing much better (?) but my hands and legs have been shaking for a few hours and i get vertigo when i move. anyway, here’s an audio of me gushing about robots and the writing possibilities, since it’s really the only way i can entertain myself now that tma is over and it hurts to look at my phone. cw: discussion of consent, mention of suicide, and i have the sexiest voice possible
@ghostrally anyway please let me know what you think, i’m dying to talk about this and will respond when possible
@ghostrally you have some good thinks. i really think the concept of an ai's identity is interesting, because how can one define an individual "self" for reproducible code, no matter how self-aware? does one instantiation of that code have rights that govern what happens to its backups or alternate versions, including those not yet created? even assuming continuous identity like, say, halo ais (sry i don't know much abt transformers specifically) what draws the line between a person and a tool >
@ghostrally esp. when said ai was created specifically to be a tool?
some of my favorite ais in fiction are the geth from mass effect 2 (less so 3...), who don't have a concept of individuality: they're composed of low-level programs that don't have sentience on their own, but have a gestalt awareness and consciousness that grows stronger with numbers. "killing" one program damages a piece of the whole but does not "kill" a "person" per se
@Paravellex so like a hivemind? :O
@Paravellex HI I MISSED THESE AAaa
