Nobody advocating for “living with covid” is actually advocating for what’s necessary to do that.

Mortality will go up 5 to 10% permanently. That means we’ll need to expand morgue capacity and staffing so nurses aren’t spending their entire day processing body bags and death paperwork like they are now.

Millions more will be disabled. That means we need to give the ADA more teeth and eliminate the disability subminimum wage. (That was in BBB, which got shitcanned.)

It remains a pandemic disease prone to exponential growth in waves. That means multiple times a year industries will shut down due to vast swaths of workers being too sick to work. That means we need permanent increases to paid sick leave, and automatic plans for schools to transition to remote during surges.

It means creating permanent policy guides that automatically expand restrictions to react to hospital capacity, which could have prevented this current surge from reaching its terrifying heights.

It means doing a lot of stuff that’s not happening. Because nobody advocating for “living with covid” actually wants to do that. They want to keep the wealth transfer going while you die.
