apparently GM headquarters are moving out of the Renaissance Center to the new Hudson’s tower. I wonder what they’re gonna do with the RenCen now. One of the most bizarre but weirdly beautiful facilities I’ve ever seen, I hope they make good use of it.

I’ve been to RenCen many times for citizenship stuff (consulate general of Japan is there). Notoriously hard to navigate (before they redesigned the interior), very separated from the city, heard the hotel is struggling too. As the same time, unbelievably beautiful pre-redesign (haven’t been there in years, no idea how it looks now) — pale glass walkways connecting giant brutalist concrete pillars, huge circular motifs on every floor, just nuts. just a deeply weird and stunning facility — whatever happens next, I deeply hope the RenCen’s repurposed to be more useful to the city’s residents
