I think the thing that makes grinding out speedrun tech fun but grinding out fighting game tech not fun for me is speedrun tech is something you do afterwards with a game you already know, whereas FG tech in my experience feels a bit necessary to get on the level of your friends.
like I know that getting your ass beat and then slowly starting to take games off ppl better than you does feel great, but I'd just rather have friends on the ground floor to be clueless with me and I feel like that cant really happen with the bigger games that ppl jump on quick. I'd really like to play sf6 it seems like a ton of fun but do I want to spend 60 quid on a game where not being dead weight among any friend group requires Videogame Homework
