Vin Scully. An incalculable loss for us, a gift that I ever got to listen to his voice go out over the air. Generations listened to him. He was the voice of the new era of the sport.
From Jackie Robinson to Fernando Valenzuela to Clayton Kershaw, he told the story of the game with a warmth, candor, and narrative talent that would make any writer jealous...all extemporaneously, with a seeming effortlessness that belied his understanding of the deeper meaning of the game
@kate I JUST
@nowionlywantatriumph @abraxas Dwight Clark is 6'4"...he stands about 10 feet tall in this crowd's estimation!
@kate @abraxas On the scoreboard in right field it is 9:46 p.m. in the City of the Angels, Los Angeles, California. And a crowd of 29,139 just sitting in to see the only pitcher in baseball history to hurl four no-hit, no-run games. He has done it four straight years, and now he caps it: On his fourth no-hitter he made it a perfect game.
@abraxas @kate or, if you wanna head into football: “Montana, looking, looking… throwing in the end zone… CAUGHT IT! DWIGHT CLARK!”
