Must be a tough gig being a materialist historian in Star Wars. Arguing that the Galactic Republic had become an empire in terms of how it interacted with the wider galaxy decades before it was declared as such, because capitalist production had advanced to such a state within the core worlds that it had to look to outer rim territories for expansion. And everyone says nuh-uh, space wizard did it so he could become emperor
@callieroxy hey did you still want to be pinged when calliope shows up? because meat callie and roxy are each wearing pajamas decorated with a silhouette of their partner
Doctor Who has done some really neat exploration of "the Doctor" as a concept and an ideal, as opposed to simply the person going by that name, and I'd like to see it give "the Master" a similar treatment. Just as there will always arise a savior and protector, so too will there always arise a dominator and destroyer; neither can permanently triumph over the other, and shades of each dwell within the other
Literally that dril tweet about the wise man bowing his head solemnly. This movie is going to be a fascinating disaster
Alex Garland: "Left and right are ideological arguments about how to run a state. That’s all they are. They are not a right or wrong [...] but we’ve made it into ‘good and bad.’ We made it into a moral issue, and it’s fucking idiotic." https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/alex-garland-civil-war-release-timing-1235852725/
