stupid question but this isnt something google will be helpful with: what chapter-based orgs should i look into (e.g. PSL, DSA, w/e). i think ive heard that it doesnt really matter and to just show up to the gatherings. but does anyone have any specific advice or relevant experience

@harley DSA is honestly the most effective and least likely to be a cult. There are some cringe liberals in it but mostly it’s good people

@harley PSL is really hit and miss in my experience. I've had great relationships with individuals in the party, but they're pretty hard line on ideological uniformity (vanguard). I've heard some shit, but haven't delved into it.

DSA in my experience is pretty good and effective (Nevada DSA). They tend to have an emphasis on democratic approaches to organizing and so there tends to be diversity in political leanings from chapter to chapter. Both are worth paying attention too, but personally I prefer the DSA.

If you're looking to organize with anarchists lookout for a local chapter of Food Not Bombs. They usually focus directly on providing food and sometimes shelter. Kinda straightforward in approach and a way to meet people.
