I think everyone should take time out to question their gender and actively make that choice. Yes, even cis people. IMO, actively choosing the be cis should be encouraged, rather than just seen as the default.

@jordyn I think hs2 was a mistake, not because it's a bad text (I don't think it is so far), but because of everything that flows forth from its "official" nature and the, idk, corporatification? of the team etc. The behind the scenes stuff is damaging both to creators and to the art in its context

The Homestuck Epilogues concluded with a call to action for fans to imagine the multitude of ways the story could go: we're beyond canon now, it's in your hands, anything can happen. And people responded with incredible creativity.
But then Homestuck^2 came along and its "official" status completely undercuts this message of the Epilogues. I think, instead, it should've been presented as just another fan-adventure, no more important or official than any other.
