The American ruling class profited wildly off the war, not just in basic military industrial terms but through the vast investments American corporations had in German industry. Proletarian soldiers were sent to die for the sake of claiming as much of Europe + Germany as possible to prevent a soviet advance, reinstating nazi leadership to power in NATO mere years after taking over, not to mention operation paperclip
