the fact that when the state does something unspeakably cruel you’re supposed to just line up exactly where they expect you to be to get beaten, tear gassed, arrested and imprisoned (but never break or take anything) is a particularly frustrating thing

like instead of "you're life isn't over at 20" i feel like i'm equally likely to see "women need to know that their lives aren't over at 20"
and it's like, yeah, that's technically true, but when i was 14 i could have saved myself a lot of trouble if instead of being like "well my life isn't over b/c i might start living as a woman someday" i could be like "well my life isn't over b/c i'm alive right now"
